The Spin on Folding Bikes

Space is at a premium on a 42 foot sailboat and size and compactness are always considerations when entertaining purchases.
When discussing transportation to and from different dockages, it was decided that a bicycle would be a very desirable acquisition, but there just wasn't space for a full size bike; so a folding bike was high on the list of 'must have' items for the journey.
After researching the various features available in folding bikes and taking into consideration the cost factor, an aluminum framed(no rust and light weight), bare bones, five speed, porta-bike was purchased from the Marine Store at Port Credit Harbour Marina.
Ideally the bike would have mud guards and a carrier but these items were sacrificed for the sake of economy. A new aluminum folding bike with mud guards and carrier, available at Holland Marine Products in The Junction retailed for $400.00 plus tax. This 'as is' aluminum porta bike was purchased for $200.00.
Hopefully a canvas cover bag can be purchased/made, for storages purposes.

Count down begins

Well, the blog has been created.

This is the first step in documenting the voyage of the sailing vessel 'Argo' which will depart from Fishing Bay Harbour Marina, Deltaville, Virginia on or about the 23rd of October 2008.
Final destination of the vessel will be Abacos/Exuma(Bahamas) with an initial destination of Lake Worth Florida.

A great deal of preparation and planning will preceed departure, and that too will be documented in this space.

This blog will serve as a Ship's Log, a record of daily memories, and a place where family and friends can check in and catch up at their convenience.

In less than a month the crew will leave Canada and head down to 'Fishing b Bay Harbour' to spend a final week preparing the ship for casting off.

Between then and now, I will spend some time blogging on the ship's linage and the bio's of the crew.
